The Ten Heavenly Stems

 

 

The Heavenly Stems represent external perceptions of a person--what people around you can see and perceive. These are characters that a person like for people to see (e.g., characteristics and personality). For instance, if a person's Wealth element appears in the Heavenly Stems only, this denotes that a person who likes people to know that he or she is rich--they like to show off their wealth. If the individual's Wealth element appear in the Earthly Branch, however, this person will be modest with showing his or her wealth.
